Body Paragraph

During my high school career I never read a book quite as amazing as this. The book "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" follows a young Native American by the name of Junior who shares his experiences through his childhood on both a reservation for native Americans and his life at a predominantly white school. This book displays what a person goes through when in the reservation, the things they see, the things they experience. His story not only is very interesting but to some is also very relatable, he talks about his school experience which branches off into two paths when he eventually goes to a white school instead of the one on the "rez" or reservation. Junior goes through a large identity crisis when he's torn between thinking he's a full blooded Indian, or part white. Throughout the book we meet many characters that carry Junior through his decisions both big and small, and these choices that he goes with really change not only him but all the people around him. One thing I love about this book is that it's filled with drawings because one of the most important details that Junior gives is he loves to draw, he uses drawing as an outlet to escape all the horrors and sadness attacking him with funny little drawings and doodles, it gives the reader a visual representation but at the same time not bombarding them with a picture book basically. I believe every person should read this book once, it teaches the audience about family and friends, and about their own identity and to take opportunities when they come by because they can really change one's life for the better.
