Art, Music, & the Harlem Rennaissance

The Harlem Rennaissance was a place and period during which African American thinkers, scholars, artists, and musicians created new cultural explorations and ideas. This year, we explore the unique interplay of music, art, ideas, and history with two notable Brentwood High School alumni, artists Paul Green and Clerida Eltime, as they interpret this notable period of black expression.

Hip Hop Showcase 2024 featuring DIE$$EL-E

This year, ASALAH highlights hip-hop, a genre of music with roots in the African American community. Since 1973, hip-hop has been “a pivotal force in political, social, and cultural space." This year we are excited to welcome DIE$EL-E of Emile’s Creations and his fellow local artists as they perform in our Black History Month Celebration.
